This is, without a doubt, the best most well thought out and well written piece on this sad melodrama I have read...period. Well done my man! It's so sad, but I agree with every word. Hotty Toddy. Go Rebs.
All three losses in 2024 are directly on Lane. The man makes baffling decisions every game. There’s several games this year where we won despite Kiffin’s questionable decision making. I hope he goes to LSU, fails, and never re-emerges. That’s his destiny. That will be his legacy. Lane Kiffin can’t get out his own way and frankly I don’t give a shit that he can’t see it. He has from day one thought he was better than this job, the school, the team, the town, and every fan. Kick fucking rocks man. Adios
This article is spot on btw. You perfectly described all of the fans’ frustration and Lane’s mental handicap/inflated ego. You took what is a bewildering and totally nonsensical situation and made some sense of it. Thanks for all you do Rippee!
Well done! The dictionary has a picture of Lane Kiffin next to “Narcissist”. I was in the stands at the Florida game and swore if I didn’t know better he was trying to lose that game. Four confounding, if not just plain stupid calls inside the 2-yard line were inexplicable. No one asked him about those because of the coaching search BS. A double two QB reverse from the 2? Seriously?! With Kewan Lacey as your RB! I appreciate Trinidad and Brycen sending messages to the fans—I hope they back them up just to spite their prima donna Head Coach.
I must admit that my attitude has been somewhat Pollyanna-ish. I’ve been hopeful that Lane had an earnest change of priorities and that he had found contentment in his personal and professional lives. Sadly, Mr. Rippee, I believe you have peeled the onion that is Lane Kiffin. Thank you for this well-written article, as disheartening as it is to read.
Great job writing this. Imagine a guy who actually built something and it became a dynasty? especially in this new era of CFB. LK is a jumper and he will find out very soon CFB is at parity.
My dad and I discussed this the other day. He wins and then says he can't discuss his decision. Woah, way to at least fake it. Smh
He fails forward in the most spectacular ways and when it's more present than ever (especially post James Frankin) that it's harder to find a great man in a good coach, lordhavemercy. We're all tired
Lane Kiffin is going to use LSU to get back into the NFL. As soon as he gets them back into playoff contention, the rumors of him going pro will be off the charts. My two cents.
Fantastic article, Brian. You characterized the reasons for our anger at Kiffin perfectly. After the Oklahoma game my response to the thought of him leaving was gratitude for the 6 best/most fun years of my 60 years as a fan. Certainly no longer after his clueless narcissistic behavior since. Not sure he can recover, not that he even cares to.
Brian, I’m late to your incredible piece — stumbled upon it on a fellow UT fan’s page, which provides a hint on my opinion of Lane. You’re on the money here, but I think you’d have to go all the way back to his dad to find the real genesis of his issues. Not to blame dad; there’s no excuse for Lane’s behavior as an adult at this level with all the opportunities and do-overs he’s been given. The LSU chapter will be interesting because it doesn’t have to feel grateful that Lane Kiffin said yes.
Big picture, college head coaching is a mercenary business.. so to varying degrees, they're all just chasing bigger paychecks. Nothing really wrong with that.
But I appreciate that you mentioned Kiffin's 'devotionals'. Because this is a routine that has become an unnecessary charade. We all know and expect coaches to abandon programs for bigger paydays now. I don't think anyone cares about the coaches pretending to be morally conflicted. Especially since it seems every time these coaches engage in prayer, their answered prayer always (& predictably) guides them to take more $$$.

Best writing on Lane… Rippee hit the nail on the head. Kiffin is a hoe that Ole Miss tried to turn into a housewife.
Hell, his dog WOULD be the mascot already if he could be trusted by the admin to stick around and build a dynasty.
Very insightful and, in my opinion, right on the mark. Well done!
Rippee, as always that was excellent, and on point. Make room on the shelf for the Pulitzer Prize.....

Thought he was done after he crashed and burned at USC. But yet here he is.

He’s a narcissist and an opportunist. Not a loyal bone in his body. We already know he’s not going to stick around Ole Miss.
This LSU fan does NOT want this guy for all the reasons described!!
